Art Curation | Featuring Fiona O'Byrne
Saddler & Co is pleased to present A GENTLE UNFOLDING, our first artist release of 2022, featuring the work of Melbourne-based painter Fiona O'Byrne.
This exclusive collection of six original oil works forms a collection of home still lifes that reference our common yearning for hope and presence. Observe the quiet intimacy in domestic realism that Fiona captures so beautifully.
"This is what I became conscious of during the season of lockdowns and uncertainty that we experienced throughout 2021 – there is hope found in the simple ways we surround ourselves with beauty and nature.

"Fiona’s work captures these moments perfectly.”
– Jemima Aldridge, Saddler & Co Creative Director
Fiona is known for her delicate still lives and portraits, using her immediate domestic environment to create vignettes of quiet simplicity and classical harmony.
Employing mainly traditional methods of oil on canvas overlaid on panelboard, the artist creates rich tonal paintings that are marked by sparse, carefully arranged compositions. Her subject matter focuses on interiors and her familial life – vases with freshly picked flowers from her local neighbourhood, portraits of her family and friends.
Fiona has been a finalist in a number of prominent portrait prizes, including The Lester Prize and the Shirley Hannon National Portrait Award, and the AME Bale Art Prize.
Saddler & Co is thrilled to be hosting this exclusive collection, styled by Jemima Aldridge, within our flagship store in Dubbo.
We trust you find inspiration and joy from the gentle beauty of Fiona's work.
