Saddler & Co PERMANENT SHOP & SALES ASSISTANT
As we head into the new year 2019, we are offering a coveted position within our small dynamic brand. Each person on our team is welcomed into the Saddler & Co family, where we are deliberately creating an environment of cohesion and creativity within the day to day workload.
The brand has developed over ten years born out of our need to offer the world pieces of quality, nostalgic appeal, and longevity. We place a high value on each person's individuality and creative resources within the team - weaving these skills into a talented mix of original product offering, beautiful design, community, and the heartfelt service that defines the Saddler & Co brand reputation.
We are now seeking a motivated person to step into our beautiful world of leather in a customer relations, sales focused role.
The successful candidate will handle the daily business administration with a high degree of personal attention and creative flair. The role includes various aspects of operations support, working to increase business growth through exceptional sales and customer service, assisting in the flagship store, managing online store orders and stock control, approaching tasks with high levels of personal professionalism.
This role requires a purposeful understanding and adherence to the vision of our brand, commitment to customer care, and upholding the experience we provide through the Saddler & Co products, services, and events. Understanding and appreciating fine craftsmanship, combined with attention to detail, defines our brand and is absolutely essential to the position.
To be part of our team you must be motivated, punctual, and reliable. We value good communication skills, personal integrity, creative problem solving skills, willingness to learn and take initiative. Proven time management, capacity to plan work and follow directions will be highly regarded.
This is a Permanent position with the scope for flexible work hours or Part time hours. Salary will be determined upon experience.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service, with attention to the personal details that ensure each customer is treated with respect and dignity.
- Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards within our flagship store.
- Manage the Saddler & Co stock levels within the store, working closing with the workshop, to ensure that we maintain consistent product lines. Personally communicate with customers on made to order items.
- Ascertain customers’ needs and wants, and provide relevant information regarding the Saddler & Co products and artisan brands that are in stock. Understand the key points of top products to ensure customers can receive the right information. Recommend and display items that match customer needs.
- Keep up to date with product and design information. Accurately describe product features and benefits.
- Welcome and greet customers, manage custom enquiries and order flow between the store front and workshop.
- Manage point-of-sale processes and online orders. This includes careful packaging and presentation with attention to the personal details, such as handwritten notes and follow up emails or phone calls.
- Manage the cash sales and point of sale retail system with the utmost honesty and integrity.
- Manage customer service emails and enquiries.
- Assist with implementing systematic processes, spreadsheets, and filing systems.
- Update and maintain office policies and procedures as necessary.
- Utilise oral and written communication to assist with sharing the Saddler & Co story through a complete customer experience.
- Assist with events, workshops, and pop up shops as required.

Saddler & Co CASUAL CRAFTSMANSHIP ASSISTANT in the workshop
Saddler & Co is offering a rare opportunity for a creative person to join our team in the capacity of Leather worker assistant.
We are seeking an individual who brings to the table a willingness to learn alongside creative flair, regard for following instructions, and working with their hands. Understanding and appreciating fine craftsmanship, combined with attention to detail, defines our brand and is absolutely essential to the position.
The successful applicant will be trained in the basics of Saddler & Co leather craftsmanship processes and workshop production to ensure our standards of beautiful quality and craftsmanship are well executed.
Role responsibilities will include but not be limited to the handcrafted processes and basic workshop skills that define the making of each Saddler & Co piece. This role will require strength of body combined with the ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and move rolls of leather in addition to working comfortably with hand tools. Further training in the Saddler & Co manufacturing techniques will be provided after a probationary period of high performance.

This is a Casual / part time position with the scope for permanent part time or flexible work hours in future.
