We are pleased to curate the exclusive Stansborough brand representing a range of their fine woollen throws and blankets. All pieces are spun from the fleece of the Stansborough flock of rare sheep, organically farmed and nurtured just outside Wellington, New Zealand.
The Stansborough Story:
In the late 1980's, an English couple found a rare flock of sheep on the South Island of New Zealand. They moved them up to the North Island to an idyllic farm and started their journey to hero this sheep's unique fleece.
The Fleece was unique as it had a naturally tight curl, which means when spun into yarn it is both lustrous and strong. The sheep also naturally have 3 shades of grey on its fleece, which are used in the Stansborough products un-dyed and in its natural state.
To add colour to the Stansborough Collection they partnered with another New Zealand company who use biodegradable dyes to colour yarn and highlight the natural grey's. The wool is never pre-bleached so each season the yarn has a unique undertone as the colour of fleece changes season to season.
All the pieces are created on a set of English historic looms which originate from the 1890's.
Wool is an Active Fibre which means it reacts and regulates changes in the body's temperature. It is also 100% biodegradable, natural and renewable.
