FEATURE ARTIST | Nerida Woolley

Saddler & Co is pleased to present RISE AND FALL, our next artist release, featuring the work of landscape painter, Nerida Woolley.

This exclusive collection of original oil works reflects Nerida’s strong connection to the beautiful landscapes of the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, where she was born and raised. A former rural newspaper photojournalist, Nerida has a keen eye for picturesque farming scenes, which she captures to paint later. Her signature palette of muted greens and moody skies are painted using both brushes and palette knives for varying effects.

The Australian landscape gently impresses its mark on our memories.

" This collection of oil artworks was inspired by an authentic connection to the land. The rise and fall of undulating paddocks, panaromas of dusk skies, shadows of native trees and shrubs, subtle references to the farmer's way of life. Nerida's work paints a memorable and personal picture of regional life that will adorn your walls in quiet beauty. "

- Jemima Aldridge, Director

Having originally studied agribusiness at the University of Queensland and later Communications at Charles Sturt University, Nerida Woolley returned to painting after a long hiatus, graduating in 2019 with a Diploma of Visual Arts from Lismore TAFE.

Nerida now lives on a macadamia farm just outside of Alstonville, in the Northern Rivers, with her husband and children, where she paints daily, between family and farm duties.

" This particular collection of works  is a mix of rural landscapes that I love and connect with, having snapped reference material on my daily travels in and around the Northern Rivers, the New England area where I frequently visit family, and the Central West where Saddler & Co calls home. "

Nerida was a finalist in the 2001 Ravenswood Australian Women's Art Prize and a semi-finalist in the Byron Arts Magazine Art Prize in 2020.

This collection is a special one to our team, representing a love for the land that we each hold. More specifically, a number of the artworks were inspired by a series of photographs that our team member, Sally, took near her family farm at the foothills of the Warrumbungles.

Explore these beautiful ranges and foothills, and observe the subtle variations in each rise and fall of the Australian country landscape in Nerida's artworks.

Saddler & Co is thrilled to be hosting this exclusive collection, styled by Jemima Aldridge, within our flagship store in Dubbo the month of September. We trust you find inspiration and joy from the gentle beauty of Nerida’s work.
